Our goal as Coaches is predicated on building a love for the game and the foundational fundamentals that allow each player to maximize their potential and experiences for years to come. We believe that having fun and working hard are synonymous and very vital for young athletes to learn. We will be teaching just as much about character, mental resiliency, attitude, and teamwork as much as we will about basketball.

Our goal is for each player to walk away from each season with a strong desire to continue to play the game, having built new friendships with their teammates, and to grow significantly in their physical fundamental skills and understanding of basketball concepts. We want to promote self-esteem, pride, respect, responsibility, confidence, and a strong work ethic among all the players. That can not be done without a commitment from the Players, Parents, and Coaches.

Expectations for the Players

  • Having a positive, supportive, can-do attitude. Our goal is to assemble a team of players who consistently demand more of themselves. Be coachable, hustle, display mental toughness, and be focused.

  • Players are to treat coaches, parents, teammates, opponents, refs, and fans with respect. Players who display bad attitudes and body language will be coached on how to improve. If said behavior continues, they will lose playing time during the games. Behavior that puts other players down will not be tolerated! This also includes at home and in the classroom. Do the right thing and be respectful. Come to the coaches first if you have a team-related issue.

  • Give the maximum effort on and off the court. Always do your best and work hard to develop good habits in practice. The habits we develop in practice are the habits that determine how we play in the games.

  • Grades come before basketball. Failing grades may result in extra conditioning time in practice.

  • Encourage your teammates. Everyone makes mistakes and NO ONE is perfect. Lift your teammates up and always encourage them to not give up.

  • Listen, pay attention, and follow instructions given by the Coaches. This is a very important key to you being a successful athlete. Players who don’t pay attention will not be able to apply the skills and concepts that are being taught.

Expectations for Parents

  • We cannot help your child grow and learn the necessary skills and life lessons unless they are at practice and the games. Players are expected to be at practice on time because timeliness is an important life skill and an important part of being a good teammate. Our expectation for game days is that each player arrives at least 30 minutes before the game. We realize that life events happen, and we are flexible and understanding of the many challenges families have getting their children to and from practice and games. Please communicate with us if there is any issue that will prevent your player from being at the games or practice on time. We can always help and figure out a way to make things work. If being late or not showing up becomes a pattern, this could result in a loss of game time for your player.

  • If your child is having problems such as poor academics or behavioral issues, etc., please let us know. It's important that we know how to operate when your child’s well-being is affected by something that is bothering them. We will make sure to assist in any way we can.

  • Be positive, supportive, and an example of good sportsmanship to your child and their teammates. You are a HUGE part of helping them have fun and enjoy this experience.

  • Let the Coaches do the coaching. We want the players to be listening to the instructions given during a time-out and halftime and if they are looking for your instruction, they are not engaged with the team.

  • If you have any questions or concerns about your child, please don’t hesitate to reach out and express your concerns.

As Coaches, We Promise To:

  • Treat each player as we would want our child to be treated.

  • Push each player to become the best possible person and athlete that they can be.

  • Be good role models that demonstrate integrity, respect, and good sportsmanship.

  • Build a strong relationship with each player that includes understanding their strengths, weaknesses, and motivations.

  • Provide regular feedback and evaluations that help the players and parents understand what they are doing well and where they need to improve.

  • Inspire and motivate players to work hard, stay focused and be committed.

  • Love your kid and do any and everything possible for them to succeed in life.
